Eight Songs for a Mad King & Ping: Music Theatre Wales
Design, Art direction

‘Eight Songs for a Mad King’ explores the well-known story of the madness of King George III. A contemporary opera, the production is a one man show which sees the madness and confusion unfold before our eyes through moments of humour, distress and emotional self-reflection.
Our solution for the promotion of the production was to capture an image which conveyed the madness and uncertainty felt by the King. The actor, in his regal robe, wears a cardboard crown. Head bowed, we are unsure if the King is aware of his predicament, thus conveying the pathos evoked by the work.
