Triptych: DeOscuro
Design, Art direction

A performance in three parts, ‘Triptych’ explores the devastating effects of PTSD on war veterans. What began as research for a stage production, became a powerful installation, play and contemporary dance piece. Often unable to talk about their experiences, veterans feel trapped by their traumas and fears, becoming introverted in the hope of protecting themselves and loved ones from further distress.
Our solution for DeOscuro to promote the tour was to shroud a willing veteran dressed in full combat gear. Head bowed, the shroud can either be seen as a perceived layer of protection for the soldier, or a mask that prevents the veteran from talking about their true feelings.
